Generac install FAQ.
Don’t see your question? Call 715-441-5440 or schedule a free site assessment and we’ll walk through it with you.
It depends on the unit size, your home, the gas line run, slab and electrical work, and permits — there’s no honest one-size answer. That’s exactly what the free site assessment is for: we walk your property and give you a clear written proposal so you know the real number before you commit. Wisetack financing is available if you’d rather spread it out.
Generac air-cooled units run on both. Natural gas is usually simpler if you already have a utility line. Propane requires a tank sized for the generator’s load (we’ll size it during the assessment). Both are equally reliable.
The on-site work itself is typically one to two days once permits and gas-line coordination are in place. The total timeline from signed proposal to first start-up depends on permitting, the utility, and our current schedule — we’ll give you a realistic timeline with your proposal.
Generac air-cooled units need annual service: oil change, filter, battery check, transfer-switch test. As an authorized Generac service dealer, we handle that maintenance and can keep your service documentation current with Generac.
The 22 kW air-cooled unit backs up most homes up to 5,000 sq ft completely. Smaller units back up “essentials” — HVAC, fridge, freezer, lights, well pump, sump pump, key circuits. The assessment tells us which path is right.
For the start-up and training, yes — about 45 minutes. For the install days, you don’t have to be on site if you’d rather not.
