Panel Upgrades
Old panel slowing your house down?Let’s fix that.
200A and 400A residential panel upgrades, FPE / Zinsco / Federal Pacific replacements, and sub-panels — across Polk County, St. Croix County, and northwest Wisconsin.
5 signs your panel
needs an upgrade.
If you’re checking off two or more of these, you’re not paranoid — your panel is probably overdue.
Breakers keep tripping
The same breaker flips every time you run the microwave and toaster together. That panel can’t keep up with what your house actually uses.
FPE / Zinsco / Federal Pacific
These panel brands are known fire risks and most insurance companies don’t like them. If your panel says one of those names, we should talk.
100A and you’re adding load
EV charger, hot tub, induction range, heat pump, finished basement — a 100A panel runs out of room quick. 200A is the modern standard.
Selling soon
Buyers’ inspectors flag old panels every time. Upgrading before listing usually pays you back at closing and prevents last-minute renegotiations.
No room for breakers
If your panel is full and you’ve got “tandem” or “cheater” breakers stacked in, you’re past due. Code-compliant panels have room to grow.
Burning smell or scorching
Any sign of heat, discoloration, or scorch marks on or around the panel is an emergency. Don’t wait — call us today.
A real panel upgrade,
not just a swap.
Every JETA panel upgrade is a real upgrade — code-compliant grounding, a labeled directory, and clean conductor work, not just a box swap. Here’s what’s standard.
- New main panel — Square D, Siemens, Eaton, or Cutler Hammer, sized for your house and future loads.
- Tested & energized — every circuit checked and confirmed live before we leave.
- Code-compliant grounding — grounding systems meeting current NEC.
- Labeled directory — every breaker tested and labeled by room/circuit. No guessing later.
- Cleanup and haul-away — the old panel goes with us when we leave.
Want whole-panel surge protection? We can add it — just ask, and we’ll include it in your estimate.
Four steps from quote
to brand-new panel.
Most residential panel upgrades wrap up in a single day on site. We’ll give you a realistic timeline for permitting, the utility, and scheduling when we hand you the proposal.
Free on-site quote
We look at your existing panel, check the service entrance, talk through current and future loads. You get a written, fixed-price proposal — no guesswork.
Permits & scheduling
We handle the permit paperwork and coordinate the temporary shutoff with your electrical utility, then lock in your install date.
Install day
Power off in the morning, new panel in by mid-afternoon, everything tested and labeled before we leave. Most houses are out of power 4–6 hours.
Inspection + close-out
Inspector signs off, utility reconnects, we deliver photos and final paperwork. Warranty starts the day you’re back online.
Rough ranges, not a quote.
These are general ballpark ranges to give you a feel for cost — they are not a quote and not a price we’re bound to. Your real number comes from a free on-site estimate, because what’s behind the wall always matters. The estimate is the number we stand behind.
Prequalify in a minute, no impact to credit. Terms 3–60 months.

For a standard 100A-to-200A swap, your power is typically off for 4–6 hours during the day of install. We’ll let you know the exact window the day before so you can plan around the fridge, freezer, and any sensitive equipment.
Yes — we take care of the permit paperwork, coordinate the utility shutoff and reconnect, and schedule the inspector, so you don’t make any phone calls. Permit fees themselves are billed separately from the project quote.
If you have a 100A panel and you’re planning to add a heat pump, EV charger, hot tub, induction range, or you’re finishing a basement, yes. 200A is the residential standard for any house built in the last 20 years, and it leaves real room to grow.
We install Square D, Siemens, Eaton, and Cutler Hammer — all professional-grade panels with breakers readily stocked at supply houses across the area. No default brand; we match the panel to your home and your existing setup. We don’t install bargain-brand panels.
The quote is fixed-price for the scope we walked through. The only thing that can change it is if we open up the wall and find something dangerous or non-code that has to be addressed — we’ll show you the problem, take photos, and quote the fix before doing the work.
Often yes, in a good way. Replacing an FPE or Zinsco panel can get you back to standard rates or remove a coverage exclusion — check with your own agent on the specifics. If you need documentation of the completed work, just ask and we’ll get it to you.
Yes — pre-listing panel upgrades are a regular part of our work. If you’ve got an inspection or closing date coming up, tell us when you call and we’ll be straight with you about whether we can hit it.
